Mission

reaching up. reaching across. reaching out.

  • Mission

We understand ourselves as being a group of people who are trying to live our lives oriented to God and his purposes in our world. We do this through worshiping, praying and studying scripture together.
We are committed to sharing our lives together. Whether it be through a shared meal at someone’s house, a fellowship gathering at the church or a group of people gathered together to study Scripture, we believe that building relationships with one another is vital to our faith.
We believe that God has called us to be the “church” inside and outside of the four walls of this building. Our faith goes beyond the hour and a half that we meet together in worship. We are called to be salt and light to the world around us. To that end, we are involved in ministries within our community. We also understand that in every home, in every place of work and even while picking up groceries, we are the people of God and that God is making His appeal through us (2 Corinthians 5:20).

  • Our Story

The birth of Cuyahoga Falls Church of the Nazarene began in 1942 as the “Bailey Road Mission”, led by Mr. John Haslett who sponsored a home mission effort in Cuyahoga Falls.  This group held a tent meeting soon after and they continued to pray and work to establish a Church of the Nazarene in Cuyahoga Falls.
By 1949, the efforts were rewards and under the direction of the district’s “Young People’s Society” (now known as Nazarene Youth International) a lot was purchased at the corner of Second Street and Wadsworth.  Rev. N.M. Israelson came as an evangelist for a month-long revival that culminated in the organization of Cuyahoga Falls Church of the Nazarene on March 30, 1950.  The church continued to grow and in October 1965 moved to its current location on East Bath Road.
At CFCN, we realize that our world is rapidly changing and while we are working to adapt our methods in order to remain connected, we know that the message of the Gospel remains unchanged.  In every way and with every opportunity that is laid before us, we at CFCN, by the power of the Holy Spirit, are seeking to be the community of faith God is calling us to be.

  • We Believe

We believe in one God – the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.
We believe that all people are born with a fallen nature, and are, therefore, inclined to evil, and that continually.
We believe that the finally impenitent are hopelessly and eternally lost.
We believe that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and that whosoever repents and believes in the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from the dominion of sin.
We believe that believers experience the ministry of the Holy Spirit, enabling them to live godly lives and to continue in spiritual growth.
We believe that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and to the sanctifying work of God in our lives.
We believe that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.
These are the beliefs Nazarenes hold to be true. They are common to Christians world-wide.
