Practicing Presence

being the church

At CFCN, we believe that God has called us to minister to the community around us. “Church” is not just about what happens inside the four walls of a church building, but “church” is about the Body of Christ going into all the world and showing others the love of Christ.
Here are some of the ways that we work to be a part of our community, share God’s grace, and show others the love of Christ.

Community Outreach

Here are some of the ways we practice living as a faithful presence of God’s love and grace in the world around us:
•  Collecting duffel bags for youth in the foster system
•  Prepping crisis care kits for areas affected by disaster
•  Bringing snacks and treats to our local fire station
•  Planting trees in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park
•  Volunteering at the Akron/Canton Regional Food Bank
•  Donating backpacks, school supplies, and used books to Woodridge Schools

The Commons at Madeline Park

Throughout the year, we gather at The Commons at Madeline Park to serve a meal and build relationships. The Commons is a permanent supportive housing development for those that are formerly homeless, disabled, veterans or extremely low income.

Woodridge School District

At CFCN, we work with the Woodridge Local School District in helping with the needs of students in our community. Sometimes this means meeting physical needs, other times we spend a few hours painting faces before football games.

Mission Trip: Indianapolis

In June 2017, a group from CFCN – from small child to grown adult –  traveled to Indianapolis to work with One Heart Many Hands (and Shepherd Community Center). They spent the week tearing down and rebuilding fencing for a local family in need. It was a huge amount of work, but a wonderful opportunity to reach out and connect with this family.
